The Community Foundation of Boone County is proud to announce Suzy Rich of Jamestown as the recipient of the 2026 Aaron Stookey Spirit of Philanthropy Award. This annual honor recognizes an individual who demonstrates extraordinary commitment to service, generosity, and the betterment of Boone County—values that defined the late Aaron Stookey.

Rich is known throughout Boone County as someone who consistently shows up for others. Whether supporting local nonprofits, championing youth opportunities, volunteering at community events, or helping connect resources to organizations in need, she approaches every effort with the same quiet determination and genuine care for the people around her.

Suzy doesn’t seek recognition. She simply sees a need and finds a way to help meet it.

Throughout her life, Rich has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving her community. She has helped coordinate donations between Amazon and the Humane Society of Boone County, supported local youth through 4-H and other community programs, volunteered at Community Foundation of Boone County initiatives, and participated in community education efforts focused on strengthening the community.

Her service extends through leadership roles with the Jamestown Community Partnership, Tri-Area Library, and Jackson Township Historical Society. She is also actively involved in her church and has long been an advocate for opportunities that enrich the lives of local youth and families. Whether supporting community events, championing local initiatives, or volunteering her time and talents, Rich has earned a reputation as someone who consistently steps up to help others.

Another nominator described Rich as “a quiet, but relentless and energetic champion for her community,” noting that her passion for people and commitment to service have made a lasting impact throughout Jamestown and beyond.

Much like Aaron Stookey’s legacy of quietly and consistently showing up for others, Suzy has built a broad and meaningful pattern of service that spans organizations, causes, and years,” another nominator shared. “She brings people together, strengthens the organizations she serves, and models what it looks like to truly invest in your community.

As part of the award, Rich received a $500 charitable grant to direct to a nonprofit organization of her choice. She selected Isaiah 117 House, supporting its mission to provide physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster placement.
