Normally when you take a cell phone out in class, the teacher either ask you to put it away or will take it until the end of class. For one Zionsville Middle School art teacher, she found a way to turn cell phones into tools for capturing images.
With a Mini Art Grant from the Community Arts Endowment, Ms. Goodman was able to purchase cell phone tripods. Students used their cell phones to capture images and the tripod kept the phones steady and in place. After taking the photos, students imported the images to their laptops for movie production. Ms. Goodman says, “The students and I enjoyed this project so much that we will do it every year!” She shared with the Community Foundation one of the stop motion animations she and her students made in class using the tripods, which can be found here.
The Community Foundation is happy to be a supporter of the arts. We cannot wait to see more of the exciting art projects students at Zionsville Middle School will complete.
