We empower and engage our community to make a difference here at home. We invest in people who are working to address local needs and transform lives, while leading a vision to collaboratively address the root causes of challenges facing our community in diverse and equitable ways. We work with donors to create permanent funds for charitable giving to strengthen Boone County for generations to come. Since our inception in 1991, we have granted more than $29 million in scholarships and grants and have grown our net assets to $31 million.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Communications reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a full-time position, working an average of 40 hours a week. This role keeps our community connected, informed, and inspired. They set the communications strategy in consultation with the CEO, ensuring it informs, inspires, and engages our audiences through compelling written and visual content, and shares our story, strategic plan, and vision. They assist the CEO with donor relations, and are enthusiastic and detail-oriented.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
CONTENT CREATION & STORYTELLING
Develop compelling content, materials, and graphics that communicate our brand story, resonate with our audience, and engage target audiences. Produce collateral materials, supporting all areas of CFBC. Develop digital and print publication reports: annual, quarterly impact, mid-year, end of year.
DIGITAL & SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY
Manage social media platforms to enhance brand visibility and engagement, including content creation, publishing, and curation on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. Manage the website. Research industry trends and emerging platforms to develop and execute innovative strategies.
BRAND GUIDELINES
Rebrand CFBC and establish new brand guidelines to ensure a consistent design and tone. Provide guidance to internal teams and external partners on brand adherence.
MARKETING CAMPAIGNS
Plan, develop, and implement marketing campaigns that communicate CFBC’s story. Collaborate with CEO to build a culture of philanthropy that integrates fundraising across the entire organization and ensures campaign assets align with brand strategy. Manage communications calendar to ensure effective outreach with stakeholders.
MEDIA RELATIONS
Drive and track media coverage, generate story ideas, create and submit press releases. Maintain and develop relationships with media partners.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
Capture and edit photography and video to document and share CFBC’s story.
MARKET RESEARCH & ANALYSIS
Research industry trends and opportunities for innovation. Analyze internal and external audience insights and data to inform brand strategy and marketing campaigns.
COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND DEVELOPMENT
Execute communications to drive the development and growth of our Community Impact Fund by stewarding a portfolio of donors. Track growth and pivot as needed for effectiveness.
DONOR STEWARDSHIP
Work with the Director of Operations to track and execute donor stewardship workflow. Develop needed materials for the donor stewardship plan.
They work with the CFBC Marketing Committee, which consists of community members, to brainstorm on best practices and initiatives for CFBC, while getting ideas and support. Other program-related duties associated with the Foundation’s initiative work
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
The Foundation staff is small; therefore, teamwork is an essential part of this position. The ideal candidate works effectively within a team environment, while also thinking independently and creatively.
- Professional experience or degree in related field
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and design skills
- Experience in social media, website management, email marketing, and visual design
- Exhibits a commitment to serve the community and passion for CFBC’s values and purpose
- Familiarity with philanthropy, nonprofit sector, and development, or a willingness to learn
- Ability to develop plans, strong project management skills, and identifying top priorities
- Remains flexible and successful within a changing environment
- Shows evidence of dependability and effective work habits
- Preferred proficiency in Adobe Design products, Google Suite products, and WordPress
Ability to work in a hybrid office setting at our office in Lebanon: 2 days in the office and 3 remote. Some evenings and weekends as needed based on event and meeting schedules. Must be familiar with and preference given to residence in Boone County.
SALARY RANGE

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Community Engagement reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a full-time position, working an average of 40 hours a week. This role works in a collaborative and integrated manner with the CFBC team and throughout the community, assisting CFBC in making significant progress towards meeting its goals of addressing local needs and working to identify and solve the root causes. They manage relationships with nonprofits, grantees, and fund advisors, coordinate community-facing programs, and assist with donor stewardship. They are someone with empathy, a passion for community leadership, and an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives on connectivity and talking with people. They will bring enthusiasm to community initiatives, inspire collaboration, and dauthentically engage with our local partners.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
NONPROFIT RELATIONSHIPS
Develop meaningful relationships with Boone County-serving nonprofits by deeply understanding their work, unique needs, and opportunities to further strengthen the organizations. Be the liaison between CFBC and the nonprofits. Regularly convene and engage with the nonprofits to learn areas of need and ways CFBC can best support their mission.
GRANTEE SITE VISITS
Conduct site visits to current and potential grantees to develop relationships, and assess program relevance, organizational integrity, and stability. Bring back insight to uplift best practices, identify new solutions, and inform and shape strategy. Monitor grant impact, provide resources and support for grantseekers, and bring CFBC team along for visits when able. Collaborate with Director of Education and Grantmaking to ensure grantees and potential applicants understand how they can partner with CFBC.
WOMEN OF IMPACT
Coordinate, plan, and execute this group, including secure sponsorships and meeting spaces, communicate with nonprofits and vet nominees, and coordinate efforts of the Steering Committee to prepare for quarterly meetings and twice a year social gatherings. Think innovatively to expand the group and work with Director of Communications to raise awareness and increase membership.
BOONE COUNTY NONPROFIT NETWORK
Coordinate and secure educational opportunities for local nonprofits. Promote events, increase attendance, and grow the program to best support the professional development of our nonprofits.
CONNECT BOONE COUNTY
Raise awareness and increase usage of volunteers and nonprofits. Come alongside nonprofits to help them grow more comfortable and proficient in using the program. Work with Director of Communications in marketing the program to targeted audiences, including schools, local businesses, and libraries.
FUND ADVISOR RELATIONS
Invite fund advisors to grantee site visits when applicable. Share site visit findings with the fund advisors who awarded the grants. Support CEO with fund advisor relations and donor development.
COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND DEVELOPMENT
Assist Director of Communications with growth and development of the Community Impact Fund.
DONOR STEWARDSHIP
Support donor stewardship workflow.
COMMUNITY PRESENCE
Coordinate CFBC presence at community events and meetings with staff and Board of Directors.
Other program-related duties associated with the Foundation’s initiative work.

PROGRAM ASSOCIATE

JOB SUMMARY
The Program Associate reports directly to the Director of Education and Grantmaking and is a part-time position, working 12-15 hours per week. They are responsible for the logistical process of our scholarship and grant programs, ensuring a smooth and complete process for all recipients, and the ability to provide complete reports on awards to donors and fund advisors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the grant program: create grant agreements, assign final reports, review budgets, send out award and decline communications, and related correspondence with grantees
- Support the scholarship program, including processing applications, processing student bills and awards, communicating with students, high schools and college financial aid offices
- Masterfully utilize the Foundation’s database program for grants and scholarship management
- Improve process efficiencies in our software systems
- Assist new award recipients in setting up accounts in our online tracking system
- Track required documentation and ensure timely completion by recipients
- Application intake, ensuring compliance with guidelines
- Review grantee financial reports for due diligence purposes
- Maintain exceptional grant and student records, files, and historical summaries
- Communicate with committees, donor representatives and award recipients as needed
- Assist Director of Education and Grantmaking with grant and program-related communications
- Other program-related duties associated with the Foundation’s initiative work
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
The Foundation staff is small; therefore, teamwork is an essential part of this position. Successful candidates will possess a breadth of experience; specialization in computer skills and process management is helpful.

- Analytical ability and strong skills in verbal and written communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude
- Highest ethical standards, requiring honesty, integrity, respect and confidentiality
- Strong computer skills, specifically Google Suite and Foundant Technologies products (Community Suite, GLM, and SLM). Willingness to become proficient with database software specifically designed for foundations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for substantial public contact with a diverse array of grantees, students, support systems, and fund advisors
- Commitment to high quality work, continuous improvement, and accountability
- High level of self-motivation and at ease working independently when necessary
