SullivanMunce Cultural Center is a cultural hub for arts, history and genealogy in Zionsville. In addition to classes, workshops and camps for youth and adults, the center is comprised of a collecting museum and archive, a genealogy library and an art center. SMCC is the repository of Zionsville history and we are pleased to grant $6,000 to help them implement a variety of hands-on activities and displays to boost patronage and update the Welcome to Zionsville History Exhibition. The updated exhibit will feature Zionsville history, maps and artifacts from the past as well as maps, and larger “feature items” on a rotating schedule in order to keep the exhibit fresh and expose regular visitors to new items on a regular basis. Kids and families will be engaged with interactive computers, games, photo areas and scavenger hunt “clues” activities. Don’t worry, the large hair wreath from their collection which consists of hair collected from 115 Zionsville residents from 1860’s continues to impress visitors, so they continue to display it! SMCC also plans to engage the public, interested in history, to gather together to identify people and trace histories of buildings and homes in photographs.
