Introducing the New Women of Impact Junior Membership
Overview
Women of Impact Boone County is a philanthropic women’s group, coordinated by the Community Foundation of Boone County (CFBC). This group is designed to provide financial support for local nonprofit organizations while creating a sense of community.
Junior Members can be juniors or seniors in high school and commit to donating $100 annually. The first $20 supports an endowment fund within the Community Foundation of Boone County. The remaining $80 is used to support the 4 nonprofits selected by the members throughout the year ($20 at each meeting). With over 100 members, this group will award more than $10,000 to a local nonprofit organization each quarter.
Why You Should Become a Member
LOCAL IS IMPORTANT – You want 100% of your donations to go to a local charity in your community.
LIMITED TIME BUT A BIG HEART – You may not have time in your busy life to volunteer but you do want to help those in need and can commit to 4 hours and $100 a year.
TOGETHER WE ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS – You want to be part of a powerful group that makes a lasting, positive and direct impact on Boone County.
CONNECTING – You enjoy meeting other women who care about the local community and causes that make a difference here. Junior members will be assigned a mentor member to welcome them and help guide them through the process.
IMAGINE THE IMPACT WE CAN HAVE TOGETHER!
THE BASICS
MEET
2018 Junior Membership meetings will be held on August 29 at Ulen Country Club and November 28 at the Golf Club of Indiana. There will be two additional meetings in the first and second quarters of 2019 (dates TBD). The evenings begin with social time at 5:30 p.m. The meeting portion starts at 6 p.m. and concludes at 7 p.m.
NOMINATE
Every member (including Junior Members) has the option of nominating a nonprofit organization for the opportunity to win the group’s support. When an organization is selected, the speaker has 5 minutes to present to the group why this charity deserves the group’s support. Three charities will be randomly selected at each meeting.
VOTE
Members will vote for one of the three charities that were presented. The charity with the most votes is selected as that evening’s grant recipient.
GIVE
Junior members will make a $20 donation each quarter to CFBC, which will award one large grant to the winning organization.
Observe the IMPACT
A check presentation will be scheduled roughly 2-3 weeks after the meeting. All members are encouraged to attend and hear directly from the selected organization how the donation will be utilized to better Boone County.
