Young people today are already experts in taking “selfies” and other photos with their phones and tablets. Stonegate wants their students to learn how to use technology to create an image that can be turned into a work of art. Stonegate photography students and Zionsville High School photography students have partnered in an effort to create a series of fine art photographs.  Each high school student was paired with a team of elementary school students to take photographs reflecting the different genres of photography (i.e. landscape, portrait, etc.).  Afterwards, the high school and elementary school students edited their photos and then displayed their photography in an art show.

Stonegate Elementary School is one of the 2014 recipients of a Mini Art Grant from the Community Arts Endowment supported by the Back to the Fifties Festival. The grant was used to purchase a large format printer for the school’s art room and allowed the students to print their artwork to showcase to the community. Having this printer enhances the art technology center and provides students with another digital art form to explore.
