Since its inception in 1991, the Community Foundation of Boone County (CFBC) has grown net assets to nearly $31 million. We have awarded more than 6,600 grants to 1,900+ unique recipients, totaling more than $29 million. More than 9,200 unique donors have supported the work of CFBC, with more than 55 donors supporting us for 20+ years. We do not take these numbers lightly. As we look to 2024 and beyond, we will be focused on relationships and connectivity, and being a convenor and leader throughout the county. As we begin this work to further develop our initiatives, we recognize the need to elevate and empower our staff, who all have a genuine passion for CFBC’s mission, vision, and purpose.

We are excited to announce the promotion of Ali Maxey from Director of Education to Director of Education and Grantmaking!

As Director of Education and Grantmaking, Ali will be responsible for all areas of education within the foundation and our competitive grant programs available to Boone County-serving nonprofit organizations. This includes executing $250,000+ in scholarships/year and managing relationships with scholarship fund advisors, school corporations, and education foundations. She also works closely with our Grants Committee to ensure our competitive grant cycles meet the current needs of the community, while also looking forward to what will begin to break the cycles of need and how CFBC can make the most impact with our granting dollars, to ensure we are being good stewards of our donors’ gifts.

Over the past six years in her previous role as Director of Scholarships/Education, two of Maxey’s greatest accomplishments are successfully building a strong base of relationships and partnerships with our school corporations and increasing awareness of CFBC’s scholarship awards, including those supporting career and technical educational opportunities. As a result, CFBC continues to receive an increased number of applicants for our 60 scholarship funds and the approximate $350,000 we award in competitive grant dollars every year to Boone County-serving nonprofits. She grew and coordinated our Boone County Nonprofit Network and Connect Boone County initiatives, as well as supported CFBC’s community leadership role.

Ali is a vital member of our team, our mission, and our community. She has an amazing gift of building genuine relationships with our broad community of stakeholders and ensuring the highest level of donor stewardship. She cares about this community, the work we do at CFBC, and using her knowledge, passion, and experience to better our community.

We are excited to see her elevated in this role!
